Hertfordshire County Council held a public meeting on Monday 2 February  at Chorleywood Memorial Hall. The meeting was chaired by our County Councillor Chris Hayward who has been working hard on behalf of Chorleywood residents to alleviate the hardships suffered when Green Street is closed by flood, as was the case many times last year.

Green Street resident Ray Adcock was at the the meeting and has given this brief report:

“The purpose of the meeting was to provide an update on the issue and included recent findings of the assessments of the identified flood management options and next steps. We had excellent representation from key people in Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). The meeting was well attended by residents with a good knowledge of the facts relating to the case who provided lively and vigorous discussion asking searching questions. Most importantly, a number of key actions were agreed by HCC and Chris Hayward will be watching these closely for us. We have not had any further closures this winter season since a full five days of continued steady rainfall is required to flood the road; this was one of the findings of the investigation conducted for HCC. Fortunately, there have been no prolonged periods of rain  this winter – so far! A full report of the meeting is awaited from HCC, a further update will follow.”

Councillor Hayward added

“I will continue to drive this matter hard until we reach a successful conclusion for all.”
