Girls on the Ball

“We have 500 players at Chorleywood Youth Football Club and not one single girls team“ says Chairman Guy Allen.

But if all goes to plan this is likely to change. An FA skills session for girls 7-11yrs held in early summer met with an enthusiastic response

More than fifty girls turned up for the taster day despite persistent heavy rain.

“It was a real test for them” says Guy, “ it’s much easier to play in sunshine. They did brilliantly.”

The day was so successful that another session has been arranged for Saturday 8 September with an Arsenal Ladies Development Officer

“The ultimate aim is to set up a girls team at CCYFC in two age groups but there are three constraints.. firstly we need enough players, secondly pitch space restricts the number of teams we can have and thirdly we need parents to help run the teams. No volunteers, no teams – it’s as simple as that.

If you have land that CCYFC could use as a football pitch on weekends or can help with any future girl’ teams contact guy.allen@ccyfc.net
