When Mark Stepham spotted an intriguing Latin phrase displayed on a passing lorry and ‘Googled’ it to discover it meant “Service without Compromise’ he decided there couldn’t be a better motto for his own company, West 1 Executive.
“It just summed up what we are about, so I pinched it – but in English!”
The Chenies based family-run chauffeur company celebrates 10 years in business this autumn and have a large number of regular clients on their books who really appreciate their bespoke high quality service
“I worked in the City for 29 years travelling abroad on a regular basis” says Mark, “so when I launched the business I thought about what service I would have liked, I decided that punctuality, reliability and comfort were priority but that the extras were important too…a bottle of water, a newspaper and a smile.”
The cheery attitude is just as important to those who use West 1 Executive regularly.
“ We travel up to concerts in town a lot” says client Rosemary Warburg, “there is nothing nicer than being met and brought home by West 1 Executive in comfort. In the 10 years we have been using them they have never been late. And they are always so cheerful. ”
“Mark is a people person, he gets on with everybody” adds wife Julie who is behind the wheel more often than not, “some clients have become family friends”
So how do people react to a woman driver?
“I always get a positive reaction – In fact some tell me they trust women drivers more than men! I never get stressed in traffic.”

“The last ten years have been great, I would never go back to the city. We meet so many different people from all walks of life. We chauffeur one of the world’s top brain surgeons all over the country, we drive to events such as Ascot, Wimbledon, Twickenham, we pick up from theatres and restaurants. We even take a couple to their holiday home in the Isle of Wight on a regular basis. But my claim to fame has to be that I have had Nicole Scherzinger in the back of the car! ”
