It was all hats and congrats at the WI meeting in March.  Pam Timmins was given an award from the Bucks Federation of WI

“Members get recognition after 30, 40, 50 and 70 years” says Chair Penny Pugh, “Pam is our longest serving member of 56 years!”

“Our meetings in the 60s were at Russell School” says Pam, “ I have learned a lot over the years and made so many friends. Our choir was really successful. They won a national competition and sang at the Albert Hall!”

Milliner Tracey Tracy Elizabeth Blavey of Head Candy followed with a presentation about hats covering fashion, making and the history and explained that the phrase ‘Mad as a hatter’ comes from the use of mercury in the hat making trade in the 19th century.

During the break tea was served in bone china cups with home-made cake in inimitable WI style.
