Introducing our young artist Saffron Saigal…
Children at Christ Church School are studying War Horse by Michael Morpurgo which sets the scene for remembering the First World War. The novel has had an influence on an art installation made by Year 6 which will be in place on Christ Church lawn from the afternoon of Monday 7th November.
Saffron Saigal, an exceptionally talented artist in Year 6 at the school, created an artist’s impression of the Y6 installation.
” I really love art – I paint and draw every day, it’s the first thing I do withany free time, I want to be an architect as I like designing and sketching, I feel so happy that I was chosen to paint the poppies, it just motivates me to want to do more!”
“Our art installation this year echoes the horrors of no man’s land with the coil of barbed wire where so many lost their lives.” says Year 6 Teacher Jane Broadis, “The poppies honour those who died and speak of the hope of new life.
See Saffron’s painting at The POPpy UP SHOP at The Peppermill on Monday 7 November, 4pm – 9pm. It remains on display with the other paintings in the restaurant in New Parade until Sun 13 Nov
