Common Ranger Andy Goddard keeps a close eye on all the wildlife on the Chorleywood Common and doesn’t miss much. He recently spotted a wasp spider, with its distinctive yellow and black striped abdomen, for the first time.
“ I contacted the Environmental Records Centre – the Centre holds biological records for the Common going back decades. The county recorder came out to have a look as he’d not seen this species in the wild here before and confirmed that the wasp spiders are a new species to the Common. They have now been added to the offical records for the Common. I’m very pleased about that!”
