Plans are afoot to rebuild Chorleywood Cricket Pavilion
“The 50 year old pavilion is beyond its design life” says Rick Harragin. “We need a new, flexible building which is more attractive and sympathetic to the surroundings. Funding required ranges from £350,000 -£450,000, depending upon final design, size and layout.
We are in discussions with the Parish Council regarding lease renewal and planning the timing of work to coincide with this.
The availability and level of sports related funding (eg through ECB or Sport England) is significantly lower than it was, and, even with local council and parish funding, the majority of money needs to be community generated or else we will have to resort to costly short term ‘patch and repair’ maintenance instead. A sustainable pavilion is critical for the long term future of cricket on the common.
