Chorleywood Evening WI have been pom pom making for months – churning them out by the dozen in red, white and blue for French Market Day. . Visitors joined in making or bought a kit (£3 with wool and pom pom maker) to take home.
“The French knitting on our stall was such a success at the French Market last year and we wanted to do something different this time” says WI Chairman Penny Pugh, ”we made pom poms in yellow and black too so Watford fans can sew them onto their hats or scarves and we also made red, brown and white ones with Christmas robins and snowmen in mind! We couldn’t turn out enough of them, it’s not only the young children who love making them, teens and adults are just as keen.”
And with the red, white and blue colour palette they conveniently double up as decorations for any shindigs celebrating the Queen’s official 90th birthday next month
