The cover image this month had to be Andrew Bungard’s photo of the spectacular illuminated Chorleywood sign created by Aurora Lighting team for the Teenage Cancer Trust concert at Heronsgate which took place on the first Saturday of August.
The giant Hollywood-style illuminated Chorleywood sign was rumoured to use almost as much power as the whole lighting rig on stage!
“I always try to do something different every year” says Aurora MD Nick Edwards “We have been thinking of recreating the Hollywood Sign for a few years now. We made it quite simple, and obviously didn’t want to cost the event any money. It was designed at Aurora in Auto-Cad Design Software, we made the letters fit on to 2 of 8ft x 4ft Sheets of Plywood. A company called ABS Cases cut the letters out from our Design via their CNC Cutting Machine. They did it all free of charge for the charity. Andrew Baskeyfield (Aurora / ex St Clement Danes) wired the bulbs once the letters where cut, 247 x 25 watt Bulbs were installed which when on full draws a whooping 6 Kilowatts of power. With the environment in mind these were kept on a gentle glow for the evening to act as eye candy. Tim Rees (MTS / ex St Clement Danes) kindly installed the letters in the Garden on some Truss to re-create the Iconic Hollywood Hills look on the Formosa’s infamous Chorleywood Hills! All free of charge, and it’s now being stored ready for it’s outing again next year.”
In excess of £30,000 was raised on the night bringing the Chorleywood total to just over £300,000 for the thirteen concerts.
