The Hive Trustees have announced that the charity will have to close due to lack of premises

It was hoped that The Hive cold use the basement of the former Sheratons building but this cannot now be made available for commercial reasons.

Simone Tyson, Chair, commented, “It has been a hard decision and is very disappointing. The Trustees have been waiting for nearly three years. Hive activities would have driven footfall to the high street.”

The good news is that activities established under the Hive will continue

The Film Club Chorleywood (www.cwfilm.org) is now in its third season and the Chorleywood Table Tennis Club (Roger Close 07469 727335) started recently at the Russell School. Chattercraft will move to the Library.

Keith Frost of the Film Club said, “We’re saddened by the Trustees’ decision but fully understand. Their support has been instrumental in establishing community cinema in Chorleywood.”

Roger Close echoed this: “The Hive took the welcome step (and risk) of booking the school for table tennis for the first 14 weeks.”

The vision was to make space available in Chorleywood centre for community activities, making sure lack of money was not a barrier. The remaining funds will be redistributed to help activities to be self-sustaining.
