Make for the Common at midday on Saturday 9 July, then head for the clearing at the back of the Cricket Pavilion (it’s called the Fire Ride) and you’ll find Village Day in full swing.
The event, organised by Chorleywood Parish Council, has around 90 stalls offering a range of merchandise, eats and entertainment. Little ones in tow? Check out activities at Hillside Nursery, Children’s Centre, Heronsgate Nursery, Woodoaks Association and Creation Station. There will be Gruffalo story telling with Chorleywood Bookshop and children can clamber up into the Fire Engine or play on the bouncy castle. Ark Children’s Farm are back with their animal friends.
Get a taster of local groups and organisations like Friends of Chorleywood Common, U3A, Chorleywood Twinning, Community Arts Centre, Neighbourhood Watch, Chorleywood Care, Hurstleight Homes, CADS, Chorleywood Residents’ Association, Horticultural Society, West Herts Beekeepers, WI, Chiltern Choir, Dogs Trust and the RSPCA or join in sports with Chorleywood Cricket, Golf and Tennis Clubs. Local Businesses represented include two estate agents Savills and Binks, Dogs Trust and Chiltern Physio and Chorleywood Health Centre take part for the first time and are keen to get patient feedback. Chenies school PTA also has a stall.
Lunch options include Hazeldene Farm hog roast and burgers by 1st Chorleywood Scouts. Old Shep Landlord Billy Chuter will be serving popular award winning ales and teaming up with Rootz for a range of delicious eats.
