Renowned writer/poet Jean Kenward (Chesterman) and artist Barbara Sedassy have published the most delightful illustrated children’s poetry book, Roundabout.

The book costs £6 and can be bought in  CW Bookshop, Anamaya and from 66 Quickley Lane, WD3 5AF or email sedassy@gmail.com.

Profits from the book will go to the Jonny Rhythm Foundation.

Greetings cards of selected illustrations in the book also available.

Our thanks to Tobias and Scarlett for reading a couple of the poems for us.

Barbara and Jean lived in facing houses in Shire Lane since the 40s, their families grew up together and shared decades of fun

“ We’ve been in the same movie for a long time!” says Barbara. “we wore away our own footpath between the houses!”
Since Jean moved to Faversham 3 yrs ago there have been regular phone calls and letters, inevitably including a poem. The verse led Barbara to reach for her watercolours and the book evolved.

Jean, 93, is constantly writing.

“A line comes into my head and the rest follow like bees to a hive.”

The result of their collaboration is a beautiful book featuring  cats and owls, ducks and daisies, thunder and rainbows – the symbol of the Johnny Rhythm Foundation (JRF).

Barbara’s son Jonny died of colon cancer in 2009 and the foundation in his name changes lives by focusing on the positive in people.
