 What? The charity Workaid with its HQ at Chesham collects unwanted tools to refurbish and distribute them to disadvantaged people in East Africa and in the UK to help them learn a skill and earn a living. Their motto is Tools for Life!

Which tools are accepted?

Carpentry and horticultural handtools, welding and milling machines, knitting and sewing machines typewriters (preferably manual) and sewing and haberdashery equipment

When/Where to donate?

Mon –Fri 9:30am-12:30am and 1:30pm- 4:30pm at 71 Townsend Road, Chesham, HP5 2AA. 01494 775220 or at centres nationwide – see www.workaid.org Times vary

What next?

Restoration, servicing and cleaning carried out in the Chesham workshop then items sent in a container, most to Africa

Who? The team is made up of 240 volunteers including three Chorleywood residents – Norman Rhodes of Blacketts Wood Drive has been repairing sewing machines at Workaid for 19 years!
