Ten Chorleywood mums dusted off their tennis racquets on Sunday 3 June to take part in an LTA sponsored GIRLS-SET-MATCH fun family competition at CW Tennis Club last month. The event, to promote Girls and Ladies tennis, followed an international theme with ten mum and daughter teams ‘representing’ various countries from Scotland and Japan to India and Jamaica. The afternoon kicked off with a colourful flag-wielding opening ceremony followed by doubles matches then mums’ singles and daughters’ singles. The breathtaking rallies were cheered on by friends and families. The final between ‘Scotland’ and ‘Canada’ got underway as the sun started to set and, after much battling for each point, Scotland won. “Adults and children had a fun memorable afternoon” says Katie Ward, “The girls loved playing tennis with their mums, many for the first time and amazingly all mums are keen to play again!”
