The 2015/2016 CDFAS programme is guaranteed to inspire anyone with an interest in the arts. Our local branch of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society has a reputation for securing the best speakers and arranging incredible tours.
“I try to cater for diverse interests” says Programme Secretary Hilary Walker, “In autumn we are covering the virtuoso portraits of John Singer Sargent, the arts of the Secession movement in early C20 Vienna, the intricacies of glass engraving and etching (presented by Andy McConnell of Antiques Roadshow fame) as well as fabulous Faberge workmanship. Our Day of Special Interest in October will consider the influence of C17 & C18 French Huguenot refugees on English silver style.”
In 2016 subjects include the development of textile dyes, C17 sculpture of Gianlorenzo Bernini in Rome and bookbinding and antiquarian restoration.
