Chorleywood Primary School children are enjoying the latest additions to the school playground

“ We were presented with £24,000 by the PTA, all raised over the last academic year’ says Head Teacher Rebecca Roberts, “We decided to buy gym equipment and a climbing frame. It was important that it could be used in PE lessons linked to the National Agenda aimed at reducing obesity through sport. We wanted an outdoor reading corner so we also bought a storytelling chair and maze seating as well as a wooden cabin used for peer mediation.”

The School PTA Chair is shared by Chrissie Booth and Tania Ridgeway

“We raise the money through events like fairs, fun runs, Easter egg hunts, mothers and fathers days shops as well as a yearly quiz and discos! “ says Chrissie, “ the children helped choose the equipment and understanding the value made it extra special for them”

“The money gets used immediately and this time parents can see what it has been spent on” adds Tania, “We donate a percentage to charity too – this year it was MS.”
