Dear Chorleywood Resident,
Green Street Flood – request for historical evidence
Martin Trevett has been in touch with me to forward a request for Chorleywood residents to send in their recollections and historical evidence regarding flood problems in Green Street. He said that “Three Rivers is prepared to challenge the County Council and their expensive consultants (their flooding report cost in the region of 40K).”. A simple remedy in the first place would be to remove the bund (or a section) that lies to the east of Green Street.
Martin Tells me that “Peter Simons (Senior Planning Officer) says is if we can get together a reasonable body of long term residents who would state that there was not a flooding issue before Quattro arrived, he will submit them in a formal way to Herts, comments don’t need to be precise on dates etc it’s just to demonstrate the trend, comments could be e-mail or letter and people could either send them to me (Martin) to forward on or send direct to Peter.”
You may well have stated your views before but could you please do so again to Martin and Peter (martin.trevett@virgin.net and Peter.Simons@ThreeRivers.gov.uk) to provide them with the evidence they request. Furthermore, please forward this letter to anyone else you believe could help – thank you.
Kind regards,
Raymund
PS You may think that the problem has gone away but that is not yet the case! It is because we are indeed fortunate that we have not yet this winter season experienced a full five days of continued steady rainfall which McCloys (the consultants) concluded is the criterion which has to be crossed for Green Street to be at risk of flood closure again.
Kind regards,
Raymund
