These locally based rescue dogs are much loved
OTTO
When Paola Bryan’s perfect dog, cocker spaniel Oscar, died last year she didn’t want to rush into getting another canine companion. Then she heard about the work of Hungary Hearts. Enter Hungarian Pumi Otto.
‘ Hungary Hearts save dogs from kill shelters in Hungary. The money you pay for a dog goes to saving the next dog and covers neutering, chipping, de-fleaing, and a rabies check. I watched the online videos then went to see Otto who was staying with a family in Essex. I knew he’d be fine. He is a happy dog and loves walking and sitting outside Morgan’s Deli. Like all their dogs he comes with a passport.”
“Dogs don’t understand boundaries and neither do we“ adds Jenni of Hungary Hearts, “we offer lifetime support so if anything ever goes wrong we will take the dog back – although it’s rare!

LEMMY
Lemmy the blue French Bulldog was seized by the Dogs Trust from Eastern European transporters who attempted to smuggle the puppies into the country with false passports. He was rehomed by Chorleywooder Laura last February.
“Lemmy adjusted so well and quickly to life with us. We already had another French Bulldog, Derek, and now the two of them are inseparable! We feel lucky to have them both.”
RIO
“ We originally wanted a German Shepherd“ says Paul Burke, “but the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre suggested Rio – a staffy greyhound cross- as we were first time dog owners. We are so glad we chose him as he is such an easy dog to own apart from his slight aversion to loud noises when he wants to hide.
Our great experience with Rio led us to adopt a second dog, Pippin, – a staffy pug cross – from the RSPCA. It was quite easy to settle them in together and they get on well.”
We have also learned that lots of cafes, pubs and shops admit dogs so they accompany us out and about every weekend. Many people seem to love Rio nearly as much as us. Many a conversation in the village has started with the words “Is that Rio?”.
