Top marks for St Clement Danes’ Catering Team

The catering team at St Clement Danes School have proved once again that they are the best when it comes to school dinners.

An independent assessor visited the school kitchen to carry out a quality assurance assessment and awarded the team an impressive 97%.

Hertfordshire Catering Limited Contract Manager Jane Sherlock said: “I’m not surprised they’ve done so well because they are a smashing team.

“We’ve nearly completed the assessment of 42 kitchens and St Clement Danes School is the best so far. I doubt anyone will beat 97%. ”

They were checked on all aspects of catering including food safety, cleanliness and hygiene as well as food quality. The assessor also looked at whether training needs were being met and at the overall satisfaction levels of the team.

Ms Sherlock said the team just missed out on an even higher rating because they did not have a safeguarding certificate on display. Their training session had been scheduled for just a few days after the inspection when they were due to be awarded the certificate!

Senior Catering Manager Lynne Myers, who runs the kitchen with Assistant Manager Kelly Goodman, added: “It was great to get such positive feedback. We are all really pleased.”

This success comes on top of winning a 5* Food Hygiene rating from Three Rivers District Council for two years running.
