Folk fanatics will be in their element next weekend Rickmansworth’s first Folk Festival is to be held at various venues across the town on Saturday (19 July)  and organisers, Rickmansworth Town Team, promise a packed programme of folk singing and Morris dancing         http://www.rickmansworthtown.co.uk

The finale of the festival will be a charity concert in the evening held in St Mary’s Church, starring singer, songwriter and peace protestor Julie Felix. Julie was the first female folk artist to record in Britain and her magical tone, crisp vocals and delivery has gained her respect as a performer ever since.

But it is the power that makes the difference and affects audiences. ‘ Folk lets you sing about anything. I inhabit my songs. To quote Edith Piaf,. ‘My songs are myself, my flesh, my blood, my head, my heart, my soul . I like it when songs say something to me. When I sing people get emotional.”
