On Sunday 1st October, over 40 children from Christ Church School, joined over 1000 others running to raise money for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre – the support and information service for people affected by cancer at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood.

The school scooped 5 individual trophies: 3rd in the U12 Girls; 2nd in the U12 Boys; 3rd in the U10 girls; and 1st and 3rd in the U7 Boys.  The school also won the U12 and U7 Boys Team prizes with the 4 highest placed boys in each race (2nd, 4th, 5th and 10th and 1st, 3rd, 7th and 9th).

“It helps being right on the Common and having some fantastic parent volunteers who run at lunchtime with the children each week” says Head teacher Duncan Gauld. “We have introduced a new PE programme this academic year that promotes health and fitness, and running regularly certainly helps our children develop and maintain healthy minds and bodies.”
