With just a few days to go to the launch of CHORLEYWOOD FESTIVE TRAIL, Chorleywooders have been decking their house fronts with gusto and mega glitz and there are 130 entrants!
The village has taken up the challenge to light up Chorleywood with great enthusiasm and The Festive Trail kicks off on Saturday ( 5 December) just in time for Santa’s visit. The Trail, run by Chorleywood Community Initiatives in conjunction with Chorleywood Magazine was launched to bring some cheer to the community in a season when the usual Christmas entertainment hasn’t been possible.
“We couldn’t run the Christmas Festival in the street this year because of COVID” says organiser Sarah Papadopolous, “but we wanted to keep Christmas spirit up so we decided to try to go big and light up Chorleywood together!”
” It’s such a brilliant idea” says Alice Langford, “We got to know more of our neighbours during lockdown and the NHS clap which prompted a What’s App group. We couldn’t resist getting our heads together to bounce ideas and enter the Trail. We’re going for the prize for the best street!”
The idea has been a total success with people signing up within minutes of it being launched online. There are over 80 participants, including a few groups made up of neighbours getting together.
The brief was to festive’ up house fronts… doors, windows, porches, trees, anywhere on view. Making it a competition with prizes for Best Front Garden, Best Window, Best Festive Theme, Best Illumination, Best Road and more has given people more incentive to join in.
CHORLEYWOOD FESTIVE TRAIL runs from SATURDAY 5 DECEMBER to Boxing Day.
