The second Chorleywood Film Festival presented by CW Film Club and CW Bookshop last month turned out to be one of the best community events of the year, appealing to all ages from 8 to 80+.
The movies, activities and presentations at the Memorial Hall made it a particularly accessible, family friendly event.
As well as four screenings, a fun film themed quiz kicked off the four day festival and a Paper Planes competition for youngsters rounded off the Saturday afternoon.
Winners of the Young Film Makers competition were all excited to meet award winning film director David Yates of the Harry Potter Film Series fame who had taken time out of his hectic working weekend to talk about film making, the Harry Potter movies and Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (WBSL)
David praised WBSL as an ‘incredibly welcoming and supportive” company.
He applauded the skills of the WBSL animators and artists, visual effects team, DOPs and composers, not forgetting JK Rowling “she has an extraordinary imagination and is incredibly generous with actors” and gave a special mention to actor Alan Rickman (Snape), “a finely tuned instinctive technician.”
David advised…“Making films is probably the most sociable art on the planet…How you manage failures is as important as how you manage successes. Failure builds muscle. You make your own journey and it’s down to you how you build that journey. ”
After the interview with Martin Clarkson, David jumped in a car and headed straight over to Warner Bros Studios at Leavesden to work on the final stages of the second installment of The Fantastic Beasts film series
Fantastic Beasts : The Crimes of Grindelwald will be released in cinemas on 16 November this year
