If you are watching the second episode of Broadchurch Series 2, look out for young local actress Charlotte Beaumont as teenager Chloe Latimer, sister of 11 year old murder victim Danny.
The eighteen year old student trained with Blag Theatre School who have their summer school at The Memorial Hall. Charlotte has been acting professionally since the age of eleven and had roles in many productions on stage and screen since.
“Broadchurch is my favourite of all I’ve done. It was so much fun. The cast are all brilliant – there’s not just one main player. I’m so lucky to work with them all – Olivia Colman and David Tennant are an amazing double act..they have such chemistry.
Chloe is quite a fun character to play because she isn’t like me at all. She’s a stereotypical rebellious teenage girl but the death of Danny brings her closer to her family. It was interesting exploring how a moody teenager would react to this situation; making decisions whether to play her stronger and angry or soft and upset at different moments was a challenge.”
Series 2 is a different journey, says writer and creator Chris Chibnall, “it has a different shape and energy, a different rhythm. It’s a new story, and there’s a different engine under the bonnet this year. Some characters from series one return: others don’t. And there’s a set of new characters for you to get to know.”
“ Tonally it’s the same show but structurally it is completely different.” adds David Tennant who plays DI Alec Hardy,
“This is a really clever and exciting bit of writing, still a thriller but not the same type. A lot of people assume we film the whole thing in Dorset but of course we don’t. We film the beach scenes, anything to do with water down there everything else in London for interiors and we use locations around Bristol but West Bay is the location that everyone recognises – the Jurassic cliffs (that poor Danny was found at the bottom of in season one)
Broadchurch, Mondays, ITV 9pm
See Charlotte playing the role of another feisty teenager, Kenzie Calhoun in the final series ever of Waterloo Road ( BBC 3 ). Kenzie has been expelled from another school for stealing and general bad behaviour. Charlotte (second from left) joins the cast at the same time as another talented local actress Laura Aikman (right), who plays new deputy head Lorna Hutchinson. Laura’s TV credits include Keith Lemon’s girlfriend Rosie in Lemon La Vida Local, Natalie in The Job Lot and May Phelps in Casualty.
Waterloo Road, Mondays, BBC 3, 8.30pm
