On-trend tips from two of Chorleywood’s style gurus

“There’s a lovely eclectic vibe in interiors at the moment

Grey isn’t going anywhere but warm whites (Farrow and Ball) offer an optional soft neutral backdrop while on-trend colour palettes include earthy hues like sage green, burnt orange and muted terracotta or dusky as well as bold monochrome and zingy chartreuse.

We are seeing more use of texture and pattern layering, a move away from minimalism toward an inviting cosier feel and look, especially luxurious jewel velvets in cushions, curtains and upholstery.

Wallpapers are perfect for introducing texture and pattern and injecting some fun and individuality. Tropical prints and mural wallcoverings continue to grow. along with animal prints. The Zebra print by locally-based fabric designer Charlotte Jade is stunning!

I love the trend for warmer metals like copper, antique brass and gunmetal in furniture, mirrors and decorative pieces – they sit so well with the rich tones we are seeing throughout home décor. – It’s such a great time to update your home! ”

“Spring 2018  is more feminine, and a little grown up. I love it!

It brings in the colour in a big way, Mustard is on-trend, wear it as a block colour or break it up with denim for fun, add a pop of navy for a classic touch. Prints are a winner, whatever works for you – giant or petite polka dots, even try stripes!

Good old denim is still everywhere, not just for jeans though and it comes in lighter fabrics and relaxed washes. Dress it up or down. Flares make a statement – cropped or long. GO FOR IT !

I’m loving the floaty midi dress length too, ideal with boots now and bare legs later on. Take it from day to night with fine jewellery and sassy heels.

This season is all about trying something new and taking yourself outside the box………..just what we need to counteract the doom and gloom of the world around us.”
